On March 7, 2025, members of the Childhood Cancer Optimist Club (CCOC) joined forces with Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas at the annual Strut for Childhood Cancer Race in Wilmington, NC. This inspiring event brings together families, supporters, and volunteers to raise awareness and funds for children battling cancer, while also offering a day filled with energy, hope, and community spirit.
The race featured a lively and family-friendly atmosphere, complete with a foam party finish line that brought joy to participants of all ages. Children raced across the line and dove into the bubbles, cooling off and celebrating their accomplishments in the most fun way possible.

The Childhood Cancer Optimist Club was proud to host and support the Children’s Cancer Partners tent, where participants and families learned more about the organization’s mission to provide comprehensive support to children with cancer and their families. Club members Ray Cockerill, John Grover, Laura Allen, Joel Mousaw, and Roger Sullivan volunteered at the tent, cheering on participants and helping to share valuable resources with families facing the challenges of childhood cancer.

Events like the Strut for Childhood Cancer Race are a reminder of the impact a community can have when it comes together for a meaningful cause. By volunteering and supporting Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas, the Childhood Cancer Optimist Club continues to fulfill its mission of bringing out the best in youth and giving hope to children in need.
